FedEx-Style Dimensional Weight Example

See how an inch-based 139 divisor changes the planning weight of a bulky parcel.

FedEx U.S. parcel: use the current guide

The 2026 FedEx Service Guide, pages 135–136, uses divisor 139 for the parcel scenario shown here and rounds fractional inches upward. Specialized freight products can use different rules.

Reproduce the example

For 20 × 15 × 10 in and actual weight 12 lb, 3000 ÷ 139 = 21.5827…; the whole-pound base comparison is 22 lb. Entering 20.1 in as length rounds it to 21 in: 3150 ÷ 139 rounds to 23 lb.

Scope and limits

The comparison is a planning calculation for rectangular parcels, not a rate quote. Additional handling, large-package minimum weights, oversize pricing, service eligibility and negotiated terms are not calculated. Measure the finished package and verify the exact service before booking.
